Old Fashioned Christmas Schedule Announced - Skating, sleigh
rides, craft workshops and a visit from Santa are among the festivities
scheduled for the 10th annual Old Fashioned Christmas at Sherbrooke

Change Clocks, Change Smoke Alarm Batteries - Nova Scotians will
turn back their clocks this weekend, and that's a good time to also change
the batteries in smoke alarms.
Nova Scotia's fire marshal, Robert Cormier, said linking the job to
changing the clocks helps people remember the task.
"Battery replacement is the easiest and most important maintenance to be
done on a smoke alarm," he said today, Oct. 28. "Smoke alarms should also

Preparing for Post-Tropical Storm - The provincial Emergency
Measures Organization (EMO) is advising the public to take the necessary
precautions as a post-tropical storm approaches Nova Scotia. High winds
and heavy rain are expected when the remnants of Hurricane Wilma pass
across the province Tuesday, Oct. 25, and Wednesday, Oct. 26.
"Hurricane Wilma is expected to have been downgraded to a post-tropical
storm by the time it approaches Nova Scotia," Ernest Fage, Minister

Legislation Permits Province To Sue Tobacco Companies -
Legislation that would allow Nova Scotia to attempt to recover millions of
dollars in health-care costs for tobacco-related illnesses, was introduced
today, Oct. 13, by Justice Minister Michael Baker.
The Tobacco Damages and Health-care Costs Recovery Act is similar to
legislation in British Columbia, which was recently declared
