CAPE D'ORUses: Hiking Time: 1-2 hrs Length: variable Difficulty: 2 Location: Along Route 209 at Advocate Harbor. Follow the signs to Cape D'or. This will lead you along a mountainous dirt road for almost 7km. Make sure you wait late enough in spring so the road is dry (Early May should be okay). Description: Another one of Nova Scotia's hidden treasures. The ride up to the cliffs of Cape D’or is well worth it. There are several short hiking trails in the area which enable you to explore down by the lighthouse, along the cliffs where boxes have been set out for peregrine falcons, or out to a nearby look-off. The view from this bluff is amazing and is definitely not for those apprehensive about heights. A small beach about 5 km out this road is a great place to put in to sea kayak. The cliffs are extremely high and there are caves and coves along the base of them, which beckon kayakers to explore them. Notes: A bed and breakfast is currently being developed at the lighthouse. Rating: 4.5 Disclaimer: Sea Scotia Vacation Rentals in no way endorses the use of this trail. Please do so at you own risk. Be aware that in some places you may be crossing private property and you are required to obtain permission from the registered owner before doing so. To determine the registered owner of the land contact the Nova Scotia Registry of Deeds office.
