BURNSIDE FALLS, Burnside

Uses: Hiking

Time: 5 minutes

Length: 200m.

Difficulty: 2 (steep stair case to bottom of falls)

Location: Burnside (Colchester County), near Upper Stewiacke.

Take Route 289 from New Glasgow or Brookfield to Stewiacke Crossroads and turn onto Pembroke Road. (Pembroke Road is 4.2 km north of the main intersection in Upper Stewiacke).  Proceed 6.8 km along this dirt road.  Take the right branch, just after the small wooden bridge, and proceed another 1.8 km to the parking lot at Burnside Community Park.

Description: A small picnic park with pit toilets and swings overlooks the Stewiacke River and the five-meter water falls below.  A staircase leads to the base of the falls, where you may want to wade in the shallow waters at the base of the falls.

Notes: there is easy access to this falls, but you will need to wash the dust off your vehicle when you get home to return it to its original color.
