BRIER ISLANDUses: Hiking, Biking Time: variable Length: variable Difficulty: 1 Location: At end of Digby Neck. Take highway 217 from Digby, cross ferry at East Ferry and Freeport to get to Brier Island. Description: This island is a mecca of hiking trails. Stop at the tourist bureau in Tiverton to get a copy of the trail map. If you don’t have a map, you can go virtually to the end of any road and follow a coastal trail along the shoreline of the island. Many of these trails are also suitable for mountain biking. Notes: best to go on a clear day - may see whales! Bring binoculars. Check with ferry times so you don't have to wait long. Usually leave on the hour and half hour depending on which way you are going. Plan to spend a whole day hiking, biking, site seeing or rock-hounding on the island.
